Bridport Area Neighbourhood Plan (BANP)

The Bridport Area Neighbourhood Plan (BANP) Area was designated in 2014 comprising the parishes of Allington, Bothenhampton & Walditch, Bradpole, Bridport and Symondsbury.

Following a “YES” vote at a February 2020 referendum DORSET COUNCIL “MADE” (i.e. formally adopted) the BANP at their Cabinet Meeting on 5th May 2020.

BANP-The Plan

The Neighbourhood Plan is now part of the local planning framework and is a statutory influence, sitting alongside the 2015 West Dorset Local Plan and other planning guidelines*, in determining planning applications in the neighbourhood plan area up to 2036.

As well as setting out guidelines for developments the Neighbourhood Plan also identifies the green spaces, landscape and historic features which are now provided with an additional layer of protection. see: Protecting Bradpole’s Landscape.

MONITORING THE PLAN

Neighbourhood Plans, like all planning policy documents, benefit from being monitored from time-to-time, to reflect changing contexts and changing needs or issues around effectiveness.

“To monitor the overall effectiveness of the Plan over the preceding 12 months, and the likely implications and impact of the Plan for the subsequent year, an annual monitoring report will be prepared by Bridport Town Council, in accordance with agreed criteria, in liaison with the BANP parishes, and the Steering Group”

The Bradpole Parish Council Annual Monitoring Reports may be found on the Bradpole Parish Council’s Planning Archives page

REVISING THE PLAN

The annual monitoring & review process may result in a requirement for the Plan to be revised to take account of both local and national changes to National Legislation & Policy and Local Policy & circumstances. Depending on the extent of any revisions there are options in a statutory process which are clearly outlined in Section 4 of a Neighbourhood Planning Document which may be downloaded from Locality UK.
